Strategy Number 1: Know Thy Audience
One of the biggest mistakes that most bloggers make is not truly understanding their audience. Sometimes you can't really fault this for them because they are very new at running a blog and because of this they have not yet established an audience of their own. In this beginning stage they are trying to develop who they are going to be and they're trying to develop an audience. But even in this beginning stage you should have some kind of idea of who your core demographic is going to be. All businesses need to know who your customer is so that you can provide them what they are looking for. Strategy Number 2: Develop Your Writer's Voice What is the difference between a good writer and a bad one? Writing is not something that each and every person can do well and each writer has a different writers voice that they use. This allows the audience to know that it is them, it gives them personality, it creates a rhythm and flow that is the artistry of writing. It is how they will learn to relay their perspective via the written word. So take time to figure out who you want to be as a writer, what type of personality do you want to get off as a writer because all of these matters and will determine how you are able to connect with your audience. This is definitely not a step that you should overlook because it is very important. Strategy Number 3: Create a Writing Process Writing each and every day for blog takes a lot of time and effort. If can really be a huge headache especially if you don't have any type of writing process that you can rely on. Having to come up with everything from scratch each and every topic will definitely wear you down, especially if you're running a one-man shop and you have no one else was doing any type of writing for them. Creating a writing process with shortcut a lot of the struggle that comes with having to pen a new blog post for your audience to read. Having a process that you would use each and every time will allow you to flow right into creating content and being creative. You already have the structure that you would need to create your article. Strategy Number 4: Create a Blog Structure Having a familiar way in which your blog will be structured both on the individual articles that you will write and the general structure of your blog is very important. It keeps things consistent in your audience will know what to expect from you. It also creates a formula for you to use and it is not too different from the last section but this is more about keeping things consistent in the way that it looks and how information is going to be presented. It becomes something that becomes comfortably formulaic for both of you as a writer and for your audience as readers of what you have to write. Strategy Number 5: Learn How to Outsource Most of the big bloggers are not doing all that their writing themselves. Some people might fear that this is an authentic but it truly depends on what type of blog you are running. If you're writing about your personal life and obviously you don't want someone else making up fiction. But it is definitely okay to outsource to a writer giving them a list of subtitles, information to research and having them give you a stem article or blog for you to cue off of so that you can focus on providing truth and value to your audience versus going through the minor things that you can easily and cheaply outsource to someone else to do. Strategy Number 6: Say No to Fluff Just say no to creating fluff. It is easy to think that all you need to do is create content but that is not enough. People are looking for high quality content and if you only provide fluff, then they will write you off and people will not come back to your website again. We are living any world where people are looking for more value, any world where they don't have much time and they have a great selection. So it takes nothing for them to tune you out and tune in someone who is actually providing better value. So basically create great value or parish in the world of the Internet because the days of low-quality content are over. Strategy Number 7: Learn How to Write about Any Topic One great way to avoid writing fluff is to learn how to write about any topic. This is why a few sections up we wrote about having a formula, creating structure and creating a process. If you create all of those things you will be able to attack any topic and write very well about it. When you focus on creating a quality personality and writer's voice, it makes it even more easier for you. The ability to write about just about any topic that matters to your audience is very important because you're not going to be able to write about everything that you love all the time and there's a lot of search engine value in writing about popular topics that matter to your core audience that might not matter to you. Strategy Number 8: Make It Personal Nothing is worse than a sterile, surgical and impersonal blog. People come to blogs because they are looking for information that is presented in a very light but thorough way. They need it to be written very well and they want it to matter to them. They don't want some type of third person soup of nerdery but instead they want things that truly matter. Learn how to get the facts and great information and well researched information in a way that is personal and enjoyable to read. The ability to consistently do this is what separates the okay writers from the really good ones who will be around for very long time. Become that type of writer and you will be around for a long time. Strategy Number 9: Be a Real Person Be normal, be a real person, be a person who is working towards something, or be an aspirational personality, but never be an inauthentic thud. People don't really want to hear another fabricated influencer telling them how perfect their life is and how things should be and how they should just follow them. They instead want to hear from real people with things of value to say. It's okay to be normal, it can be okay to be a person who is working through and toward something and it is okay to be an aspirational superlative who can identify with everyday people, who can encourage them, who can challenge them and who can become a good leader for them. Strategy Number 10: Make Sure It Is Profitable Before you waste a lot of your time, yes, writing will take a lot of your time. Before you make that time investment, you need to make sure that it is profitable to run the type of blog that you are going to be running. You need to do some kind of demographic and feasibility study for what the focus of your blog is going to be. Luckily, with the Internet that is pretty easy to do, you can do that via keyword search, looking for other writers who have similar blogs and taking a look at their traffic and other sources that allow you to know what topics people navigate towards.
